Sulla Engages Archelaus

Mithradates dispatches Archelaus
Commander of all his forces
to drive Sulla out of Greece
Archelaus tries to cut off
supplies from Sulla's Army
to weaken the Roman's resolve
Sulla moves his forcess to Booetia
where the soil is so very fertile
his legions can live off the land
So doing he leaves his troops open
for attack by cavalry on flat plain
But he hopes that will force an engagement

Archelaus fights two battles with Sulla
both time the Romans are victorious
They slay a hundred and sixty thousand
But when news reaches Sulla from Rome
How now Cinna and Carbo reign supreme
He is eager to make peace with Mithradates
Sulla meets Archelaus at Delos
Where they negotiate terms for a peace
He demands Mithradates abandon
Rome's territories that he has occupied
and pay Rome reparations for his war
Mithradates with reluctance agrees to this
